Welcome to my class website! I'm Kathy Rossett and I knew back in 4th grade I would become a music teacher! I've always loved orchestra, singing, and dancing. I graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota with a B. A. in Music Education. I taught orchestra in MN for two years and returned to Illinois to teach 5 years as an orchestra teacher in Waukegan. I taught orchestra in Bannockburn and Lincolnshire as the first orchestra teacher/program. I also taught orchestra in Deerfield. I received my Masters' Degree from St. Xavier and then stayed home to raise my two children. Both my grown son and daughter continue to fill their lives with music and dance.
It was time to return to teaching and began my new path into general music. I joined Hawthorn schools in 1992 and taught taught both orchestra and general music here. I love the singing, drumming, dancing, recorders, and general music making at South.
I love my family, a new grandson, performing with my string quartet, gardening in our short summers, reading, being active with yoga and Pilates, performing with various orchestras, and working on music flip charts for my music classes. My husband and I live in Vernon Hills.
